Looking for bridal makeup in Devon or Cornwall? How do you begin to find a makeup artist for your wedding? Do you even know what your makeup style is? It can be overwhelming doing a google search or having a mooch around Instagram, how an earth do you choose someone to be with you on your big day?

Well. Lets think about why you chose your dress, how did it make you FEEL when you tried it on and what was it that made you feel your absolute best? This may give you a little thread as to what your style is.

Try not to get too wrapped up in “bridal makeup” and how you think you should look and take it right back to who you are and how you want to feel on your wedding day. You know when you’ve found the right dress, so take that feeling into your makeup and think about a time when you loved your makeup for an event and felt your absolute best.

“I love to create timeless makeup”

Something that doesn’t scream the year you were married. When you look back at photos and others see them, maybe you want a look that people don’t know what year you were married. Giving it that timeless feel, so maybe take your mind away from trends and the latest style and go back to YOUR style, what lights you up and sits right for you.

You may love a simple, classic style, look at how you do (or maybe not) your own makeup day to day and how you may change this up for an evening or special event. Were you a bridesmaid and loved your makeup? Have you had your makeup done and you didn’t like – the dislikes are even more helpful to me than the likes!

Find photos of inspiration and really hone in one that parts of each look you like, chances are you don’t like the whole look, just parts of it. Look at photos of yourself with day makeup and special event makeup – what is it you like about the look?

Then begin your search and find words that describe the makeup you love – natural, glam, glowing and find out about the makeup artists you discover – what kind of makeup do they specialise in – really look at the makeup they are marketing.

“My makeup specialty is natural, glowing and elegant”

You wont’ find me using a full coverage foundation, covering freckles or doing a full on glamour look with strip lashes. I love to see skin, just enhancing it, bringing out the glow and freshness, gentle brow definition, a smudgy smokey eye with some individual cluster lashes (maybe!) along with a fresh cheek glow and a lip colour to lift the whole look.

My bridal makeup isn’t about anyone else but you, we create the look together, with your style at the very heart of it. So if you love a red lip, lets go with that. If you hate eyeliner, don’t have it and if you really don’t want foundation on your skin, you absolutely don’t have to have it!

Find the makeup artist that suits your style and the one that feels right. Are they bringing the party or do they bring a sense of calm – what vibe do you want on your day. Trust me when I say this, sometimes its not all about the makeup the artist creates on your face, you kind of have to like them too! So take you time to find out as much as you can to ensure you have the right fit.

I specialise in bride only bookings for those brides who only want makeup for themselves. Small bridal parties, including packages for bride plus one. Elopement weddings in Devon and Cornwall – with an online makeup consultation in place of a trial. Also, luxury packages where the bride receives a facial and massage treatment using Neal’s Yard products on the wedding morning along with their makeup application. And if you fancy some yoga before you immerse yourself into your wedding day, I offer one to one sessions or a group class on the wedding morning.
